Controversy about schedules to ride a bicycle in Bucaramanga

A great confusion has been generated among citizens who go out to ride a bicycle during the day, as they still do not know the rules established by the Government. In Bucaramanga the ‘entanglement’ arises from the application of the curfew during the weekends, hours and distances.

Decree 847 of June 14, 2020, specified that “the development of physical activities, outdoor exercise and individual sports practice, may be in a range of 18 to 69 years, for a maximum period of two hours a day” .

The measures and schedules that mayors assigned must be available, with biosecurity protocols and specific regulations. In the case of Bucaramanga and the area, the allowed time slot is: every day between 5:00 am and 9:00 am

General Luis García, commander of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police, indicates that people will be able to exercise without any problem, but in compliance with schedules, protocols and standards of citizen awareness.

“You can ride a bicycle and go for a walk, but respecting social distance. The practice of collective sport is prohibited. In the case of cyclists, the idea is that lots or groups do not form, nor that certain points are reached and crowds are created, “said the High Uniformed.

He also made it clear that you can only leave at the times established in the local decree and you can also travel on national roads; But the idea is to become aware that we are in a health problem due to the pandemic and the recommended thing is not to exceed the two hours that it should take to exercise.

In Curfew

During the Curfew measure (Sundays and holidays), people will be able to go cycling or walking, as it is a rule without prejudice to physical activity.

“There is the measure, but some criteria have been excepted, one of them is exercise; the departmental regulations are clear in determining that it is without harming the citizen to do outdoor sports. ”

Among the recommendations that the Police make to the public is to wear a face mask and not violate the established schedule, after 54 in recent weeks have been applied to cyclists for breaking the rules.
