complicated situation for breeders – AgriMaroc.ma

Eid El Adha: the situation is complicated for sheep farmers.

After the closure of several cities such as Casablanca, Tangier or Marrakech to stem the spread of Covid-19, several cattle souks have also been subjected to restrictive measures for non-compliance with sanitary measures.

If the current policy is spectacular, it should be remembered that it is exceptional and commensurate with the threat that surrounds us with the Covid-19. We must therefore also salute the political courage in this direction since the Covid-19 is currently experiencing strong growth in the world and Morocco has shown since the start of this pandemic its desire to preserve its people. Result? 300 dead since January while at the same time several Western countries have experienced tens of thousands of losses of men and women, need we remind you?

Unfortunately the current situation and the concomitance with Eid El Ahda will result in the probable loss of income of some breeders. In fact, the abundant supply does not meet the current demand given the elements raised. It should also be remembered that many households whose income has been impacted by the Covid-19 like everywhere in the world, are also obliged to redefine their budgets and to bet on a certain prudence.

There is therefore a real risk for breeders who are currently forced to lower their prices, notably with a price varying from 1,500 to 2,500 dirhams for good quality sheep, if they want to minimize their losses in these difficult times.
