Communales: An ex-elected PS targets the Muni of Lausanne and annoys her party – Vaud & Régions

The Socialist Party likes to control its communication as much as its agenda. But it doesn’t always succeed. And when all is not carefully settled, the troublemakers are cut a suit.

Latha Heiniger, 45, appears to be under this law. She announced to her party leadership in writing that she would see Oscar Tosato replaced next year at the Municipality of Lausanne. The one who coordinates the child and youth policy of the Canton of Vaud takes it early and does not act to the rhythm of the party: it is the general assembly of next September which must determine the name which will appear alongside those of Grégoire Junod and Florence Germond. We could have imagined the first official names shortly before the summer.

Latha Heiniger qualifies her candidacy as “spontaneous” and says she has “a life course, skills and vision that bring things to the PS and which can be very interesting in a function such as that exercised in an executive”. Not sure her party is following her. It is that she left the ranks of the Municipal Council last year after a clash, we learn. “In addition, she has never proposed anything interesting, she is illustrated on nothing and we do not leave the Council to return to Muni,” says an elected official. One of his colleagues continues: “She was not easy at all when she sat with us, and now she gets into it without warning. She has no chance.”

The applicant favors another explanation for her resignation: she wanted more time for her ancillary activities and for her family. She also says not to be “fooled: there are papables other than me. But the game has to be done. ”

Two careful papables

PS Lausanne president Denis Corboz is doing his job and says he sees this candidacy “with a good eye”. But quickly points out that serious options exist. Two women “orally” said they were interested in Oscar Tosato’s position, he said. They are MP Carine Carvalho and party vice-president Émilie Moeschler.

The latter, responsible for the Chailly neighborhood house, hastens to specify that there is nothing official for the moment, but that she has been approached. “It is far too early! I have an interest in this function and I said it. But there are many things that can happen. And I have a job that I love. You also have to see what is most in the interest of the party. “

Contacted two hours later, Carine Carvalho keeps almost the same word for the same speech. Even if it develops more the themes which are dear to it: feminism, the fight against precariousness and the defense of migrants, for example. “When the time comes, I will probably put myself at the disposal of my party,” she finally let go.

Nothing is set in stone and the list of candidates for the candidacy could still change, play down the comrades. But they do not hide their annoyance at this situation which puts early pressure on the party.

Carine Carvahlo and Émilie Moeschler have widely the preferences of their comrades. “Overall, tempers a cacique, it must be stressed that all this shows that we have people and competent people in this party.”

The prospect of a primary, however, worries a comrade: “I learned a lot from the Cesla affair and it must not happen again” In January 2017, the assembly which appointed the current State Councilor head of the Department of training, youth and culture, put an end to weeks of tensions and public struggle in the party.

“Out of nowhere”

Another socialist disagrees: “Having an internal debate and a primary is no more dangerous than killing the slightest diverging vision in the bud.” A comrade decides. “Carine and Émilie will be able to manage this very well. And once this candidacy out of nowhere that Latha proposes will be forgotten, which will very quickly be the case, things will be done serenely. ”

The coming pre-election year promises to be long. Especially since roses have other important questions to answer. Particularly about their alliance with the Greens and the radical left. Elections on March 7, 2021.
