Clandestine party in Paris leads to riots with the police

On the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris, late Saturday evening incidents arose between the police and several hundred young people who gathered for an impromptu party.

The social network had been discreetly called for the party under the code name ‘ProjectX’, a reference to the 2012 American film about teenagers who organize a party (which then also gets out of hand).

Just before midnight, incidents occurred on the grassy plains of the esplanade when police arrived to dissolve the party. Some youths threw projectiles at the police vehicles. The officers were forced to use tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Around 1:30 a few dozen young people were still on the Esplanade des Invalides. When bottles were thrown again, the police had to use tear gas again.

19-year-old Parisienne Anaëlle testifies to the AFP news agency about the evening. “We had heard about it on social media. There were several hundred people. Some music was played, some brought boxes, but nothing really organized. Suddenly things started to go wrong. People started throwing bottles. The police arrived on the scene in two seconds. We were surrounded and they fired tear gas. “

Such clandestine youth parties are causing a lot of commotion in France, now that the corona virus is still circulating among the population. Last week, on the day of the traditional Music Festival, there were also several clandestine gatherings of young people.
