Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Police catch the top brass Khilafatul Muslimin Abdul Qadir Baraja in the Lampung region. The arrest was led directly by the Director of General Crimes of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Hengki Haryadi.

“It’s true that he was arrested in Lampung. The arrest was led directly by the PMJ Directorate of Crime,” said Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to CNNIndonesia.comTuesday (7/6).

Zulpan said Abdul Qodis is currently being taken to Jakarta. After that, his party will conduct an intensive examination of the top officials of the Islamic organization.

He could not say much about the arrest.

Previously, the police arrested three leaders of the Khilafatul Muslimin branch on suspicion of spreading false news and attempted treason through a convoy in the Brebes area, Central Java on Monday (6/6).

“Three people were arrested, namely GZ as the head of the Khilafatul Muslimin Jamaat branch, as well as DS and AS, which is the head of the Khilafatul Muslimin Jamaat branch,” said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police Kombes Iqbal Alqudussy told reporters.

The name Khilafatul Muslimin emerged after carrying out the ‘Khilafah Awakening’ convoy in the Cawang area, East Jakarta. Amir Khilafatul Muslimin DKI Jakarta Abudan said the convoy had been carried out since 2018.

The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police is currently collecting evidence of alleged criminal acts of terrorism related to the Khilafatul Muslimin group.

The police assess that this mass organization has a background and is also close to a number of terrorist organizations. Police also suspect they have the potential to instigate the crime.

Meanwhile, the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) asked the local government to be aware of the movement of the Khilafatul Muslimin organization. BNPT assesses the organization has the potential to give birth to terrorism.

“Because it is against the nation’s philosophy and has the potential to give birth to a terrorist movement,” said BNPT RI Prevention Director Ahmad Nuwakhid to reporters last Tuesday (31/5).

On the other hand, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) emphasized that all community organizations in Indonesia must not conflict with Pancasila as the state ideology.
