Gómez admitted that she feels very lucky with acting, because since she took her first steps down this path in 2018, when she played the role of Irma in the television series ‘La reina del flow’, the roles have not stopped arriving and He always has new projects, among which his first leading role stands out, in the Caracol Televisión telenovela ‘Loquito por ti’.
“Let’s say that the only opportunity I had to stop was the quarantine and in the middle of the quarantine I reconnected with music, which is my other great passion. I had the opportunity to pick up my songs again, rewrite more, pre-produce and when life gives me another space, I will be able to put the record back to music, but without ever leaving acting aside, never, “he admits.

In the midst of the pandemic, when everything stopped without giving many signs of reopening soon, Gómez felt “absolutely lucky” to be able to resume her acting work in the Christmas special of ‘Chichipatos: que chimba de navidad’, which, according to the actress It was one of the first audiovisual projects to resume work in Colombia.
Working in the middle of a pandemic, according to Gómez, was at first a strange, difficult and different experience. “It is much more demanding, but still one feels absolutely lucky to be able to resume after that uncertainty of not knowing what was going to happen or if we were going to return. So it was like a mixture of feelings. “
La Paisa also said that something beautiful when recording this Christmas special was that it filled her with nostalgia, because it was like remembering that traditional Colombian Christmas, with its novenas and Christmas carols, that Christmas of her childhood that she has not had for many years. been able to revive, being away from his family.
“This year is going to be very different due to the pandemic and the situation we are experiencing worldwide. I imagine that many families could not be together, I imagine it was very different and this special from Chichipatos, in addition to making us laugh a lot, gives us that nostalgia for the traditional Colombian Christmas, as a family and I think it will be a great opportunity to relive those Family moments and above all it will be a time to be grateful, because we have just gone through a global pandemic and anyway we are still here, we are alive, we have health and we were able to make this special so divine for all the people who want to laugh and relive that Christmas essence “, said.
Although laughing for some families may seem illogical, due to the losses they had in 2020, for Gómez, laughter is important and even more so at this time.
“Comedy exists from tragedy and I believe that at this specific moment we are going through a very difficult time for all of us, it will touch us all and it will hit us in a different way and I think there is no better way to forget us for a second of all the bad that is happening, than to laugh. That is good for the soul, for the heart, for health, for life, for everything. I think that at this moment, especially, comedy is important ”, he emphasizes.
He also acknowledges that he learned this thought from a great American comedian named Ricky Gervais, who was struck by a phrase that, paraphrased, says: “You have to get comedy out of all life situations.”
Gómez says that the comedian Gervais in interviews said that even at his mother’s funeral he could not stop laughing with his brothers, with whom he was pulling jokes and that he felt that this was what allowed the moment to be more bearable and not It was losing respect for the deceased person.
Possibly that is the reason why the Paisa actress and singer always seeks to live life with a smile and with a heart full of courage, a characteristic that she has had since she was a child, when she had to abandon everything to be able to follow her dreams.
“I believe that I have always been a person who has never lacked the courage in life to pursue her dreams and to do what she wants. From a very young age I made decisions that went against what society dictates to us: I left school before graduating, then I graduated, but from a school focused on music, and whenever I feel like I am in my comfort zone, I I remind myself that outside the comfort zone is where the magic happens. So, I think I have always been a person of courage and courage, to make decisions that will lead me to what I am finally looking for ”, he comments.
However, she recognizes that at this precise moment in her life, there is something in which she would like to have the courage that the characters of Chichipatos present in the special, and that is in the process of transforming herself, in a more spiritual sense .
“For all that we have lived, I have focused much more on my spirituality and my decisions as a human being. The decisions that I am making at this moment, and that require courage, have been made thinking about that purpose of peace and tranquility as a human being, no longer so much to seek professional success, because eventually I know that it will come, because a calm human being, happy and in peace can shine more. I think that at this moment the decisions that most courage and courage ask of me are for that purpose of tranquility ”, he explains.
Although Gomez feels happy in her country and is grateful for all the lives she has been able to live through her performance, she does not deny that she would like to return to the United States to do musical theater.
“When I studied musical theater, I realized that Broadway was not that easy. Generally, Broadway actors are training for four years for that space and I arrived very late, but in all this I discovered the possibility of doing musicals in a different way, like in film and television. My first project, a musical novel, was a huge gift for me. Right now one of my big dreams is to be able to make a musical film, like La la land or A star is born ”, he admits.
