Celtic Solar Group to Construct $250 Million Tamarico Solar Photovoltaic Park Phase II in Vallenar, Atacama Region

The project contemplates the construction and operation of a plant made up of 281,700 photovoltaic modules, which, together, will have a nominal power of 159 MW.

The one who promotes this electrical project is the company Celtic Solar Groupand seeks to develop a solar park in the commune of VallenarAtacama Region, by US$250 million.

Located approximately 14 kilometers from the urban limit of Vallenar, the project “Tamarico Solar Photovoltaic Park Phase II” contemplates the construction and operation of a plant made up of 281,700 photovoltaic moduleswhich, together, will have a nominal power of 159 MW, and installed capacity of 169 MW. Subsequently, this energy will be injected into the National Electric System (SEN).

On the other hand, permanent buildings will be required: a 1×220 kV high voltage evacuation line of approximately 2.34 kilometers in length; a 33/220 kV step-up substation; and twenty investment and transformation centers, among others.

The initiative will have an energy storage system using lithium-ion batteries. It contemplates the use of a total surface area of 399 hectareswith a useful life of 40 years.

Regarding the duration and labor of the phases, the construction phase will have a duration of 18 months and will require at its peak 400 workers per month. The operation phase will last 40 years and a maximum staff of 18 workers per month.
