Professor Dennis Parnell SullivanStony Brook University and City University of New York, USA, is awarded by the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and receives prize money of 7.5 million Norwegian kroner (about 780,000 euros).

Dan David Prize

Dr. Miriam BruceGerman Historical Institute London, and Professor Verena KrebsUniversity of Bochum, are honored by the Dan David Foundation and receive prize money of 300,000 US dollars each.

dr Rusche Research Project Prize

Dr. Hristo KirovJena University Hospital, receives the award, which is endowed with 60,000 euros, from the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiovascular and Cardiovascular Surgery and the German Heart Research Foundation.

Erwin Schrödinger Prize

Dmitry BudkerJames EillsJohn BlanchardDanila Barskiyall Helmholtz Institute Mainz, Kerstin MünnemannUniversity of Kaiserslautern, Francesca ReineriEleonora CavallariSilvio Aime, all University of Turin, Gerd BuntkowskyStephan Knechtboth TU Darmstadt, Malcolm H. Levitt and Laurynas Dagysboth from the University of Southampton, received the award, endowed with 50,000 euros, from the Stifterverband and the Helmholtz Association as the winning team.

Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prizes

This year, four male and six female scientists will receive the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize from the German Research Foundation and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which is endowed with 20,000 euros each.

University Professor of the Year

Professor Ugur Hawk and Professor Özlem speciesistfounder of the biotechnology company BioNTech and university lecturer at the University Medical Center Mainz, receive the award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros, from the German University Association with the support of the ZEIT-Verlag Gerd Bucerius GmbH & Co.KG.

Kurt Kaufmann Prize

Dr. Laila Abdel-Hafiz, University of Düsseldorf, receives the award, endowed with 10,000 euros, from the Alzheimer Research Initiative eV

Academy Prize of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences

Dr. James LightfoodMax Planck Institute for Neurobiology of Behavior in Bonn, receives the award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros, from the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences.

Franz Köhler Prize

Privatdozent Dr. Christian HomeUniversity Hospital of Erlangen-Nuremberg, receives the award, endowed with 7,500 euros, from the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiovascular and Cardiovascular Surgery.

Ars legendi faculty prize for mathematics and natural sciences

The award is presented by the Stifterverband, the Association of Biology, Biosciences and Biomedicine in Germany (VBIO), the Society of German Chemists (GDCh), the German Association of Mathematicians (DMV) and the German Physical Society (DPG) in the categories of biology, chemistry, Mathematics and Physics and is endowed with 5,000 euros each.

Winners are:
