RV/PhotoNews Cardiologist Thierry Wauters argues for the introduction of an ‘immune passport’, but virologist Steven Van Gucht does not think this is a good idea.

A Brussels cardiologist calls for the introduction of an ‘immune passport’: a document that gives privileges to people who are immune or vaccinated. “Otherwise it makes no sense for people to get vaccinated,” he says. “That’s nonsense,” responds virologist Steven Van Gucht. He explains why an ‘immune passport’ is not a good idea.

Brussels cardiologist Thierry Wauters himself became infected with the corona virus in March. He was seriously ill for ten days, but today is no longer bothered by the virus. He did have himself tested for the presence of antibodies in April, June and August. “They were always present to a high degree and at a stable level,” he says.

“There is a large group of people like me who are naturally protected against the virus because they have been sick themselves. In addition, there will soon be a group of people who will be vaccinated. You can’t tell people who have been vaccinated to stay at home, can you? Or have to wear a mouth mask? If nothing changes, why would anyone get vaccinated? ”
