Car hits tourists in Italy: six dead

An investigation was launched to determine the causes of the accident.

Uhe car hit a group of tourists in South Tyrol in northeast Italy. Six people lost their lives, a Bolzano police spokesman said on Sunday. Initial indications are that the victims are German.

The car hit the group at around 1:00 am near Brunico, police said after investigating the cause of the accident. The victims have not yet been identified. A press conference is scheduled for the morning. The mountainous region in Italy, on the Austrian border, is known for its ski slopes.
