Hamburg – Auto Wichert is broke!
In the morning, Hamburg’s largest VW car dealer filed for bankruptcy proceedings at the Mitte district court. This was confirmed by a court spokesman.
Auto Wichert is one of the largest car dealers in the city – with 23 locations and more than 1300 employees. It was only at the end of 2018 that Wichert took over the traditional car dealer Willy Tiedtke, which had got into trouble.
What’s next now?
The operations at Auto Wichert continue as usual, the branches remain open. Managing Director Bernd Glathe (63) is given an administrator, the lawyer Dr. Sven-Holger Undritz. From now on, he checks the business and checks whether Auto Wichert is actually insolvent.
How it will go on with the employees is unclear. Auto Wichert has been in Hamburg since 1986, the dealership sells the brands Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat.
