Canada provides free flights for Ukrainian refugees – World – tsn.ua

Canada organizes three free charter flights for refugees from Ukraine. When and under what conditions you can fly away – in the material TSN.ua

The Government of Canada organizes 4 charter flights to Canada for Ukrainians and their families. Flights to cities in Canada will operate from Poland.

The flight schedule is as follows:

  • May 23 in Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • May 29 in Montreal, Quebec
  • June 2 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The main requirement to fly to Canada for free is need get permission to enter Canada under the Canadian-Ukrainian Emergency Travel Permit (CUAET) program. Recall that CUAET grants Ukrainians and immediate members of their families the right to stay in Canada in the status of temporary residents for up to 3 years. Along with the visa application, an application is submitted (optionally) for permission to work or study in Canada during this period.

For CUAET visa holders Complimentary air tickets will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Ukrainians who have received CUAET visas to come to Canada and the opportunity to fly for free will receive a notification on how to register for flights by e-mail.

Upon arrival in Canada, Ukrainians in need of shelter will receive temporary housing for up to 14 nights under a special resettlement program. In addition, until March 31, 2023, other services for Ukrainian refugees, which are usually available only to permanent residents, have been expanded, namely:

  • language training,
  • informational assistance about life in Canada, for example, assistance in enrolling children in school,
  • information assistance, services to help you gain access to the labor market, including mentoring, networking, counseling, skills development and training,
  • assistance in establishing relations with communities,
  • assessment of other needs of Ukrainians and referral to appropriate institutions,
  • services that address the needs of women, older people, youth and LGBTQ2+ people
  • other resettlement support services funded under the resettlement program
