Canada: Murder shocks: Homeless man (59) killed by eight teenage girls

On December 16 last year, a 59-year-old homeless man was beaten and stabbed to death by eight teenage girls in the Canadian city of Toronto.

Recently, the police in the city went out with the name and picture of the man. The 59-year-old man’s name was Ken Lee, and he was an immigrant from Hong Kong.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital after the horrific attack.

The eight perpetrators are all between 13 and 16 years old.

Police detective Terry Browne of the Toronto police calls the brutal murder “shocking” and “disturbing”.

– Attacked him like a wild animal

According to Daily Mail the theory is that Lee was killed when he defended a friend the girls tried to steal a bottle of booze from.

According to the newspaper, Lee had only been homeless for a few months when he was attacked and killed.

A witness who saw the attack says The Toronto Sun that the girls behaved like “wild animals”.

– They attacked this guy like a bunch of wild animals. He tried to fight them, and they just came back, the source told the newspaper.

– He only minded his own business, he didn’t bother a soul.

The murder has shocked the police in the city:

– I have worked in the police for almost 35 years, and you think you have seen everything. Anyone who isn’t shocked to hear something like this has obviously just thrown in the towel and said anything is possible in this world, police detective Browne said at a press conference when the case became known.

– There are eight young girls and most of them under 16 years of age. “If this isn’t alarming and shocking to everybody, then we’re all in trouble, frankly,” said a visibly shaken Browne.

After the murder, all eight girls were arrested and charged with premeditated murder.

Shocked parents

The teenage girls are said to have come from different places in Toronto, and had also gotten into a conflict in the same area earlier in the evening.

– Maybe these were eight girls who wanted to make a name for themselves and see if they could become famous on social media, Browne said at the press conference.

However, he would not comment on whether there is a video recording of the attack.

Filming violent attacks and sharing them on social media has become a sinister trend in several places around the world. Also in Norway.

In August last year, among other things, the police had to go public to ask people to stop spreading a video of a young boy being subjected to violence.

Since the girls are minors, Canadian authorities cannot release their names. Police detective Brown, on the other hand, could say that the parents of these girls were shocked when they were informed of what their daughters had done.
