Cameroon News :: SNK HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVE: HOPE AND SUPPORT FOR ORPHANS :: Cameroon news

Filled with donations, Steven Nbienou Kouadjo went last Sunday, November 12, to the bedside of orphanages housed in three municipalities in the Central Cameroon region.

“In the memory of a journalist, I had never seen such an action from a young person,” declared a reporter at the caravan’s last stopover. This is the same feeling that the men and women of the media present in this humanitarian hike initiated by Steven Nbienou Kouadjo, through his humanitarian and social action organization, SNK, had.

The donation consists of a check for 10 million CFA francs per orphanage to improve their living conditions. It also involved the distribution of essential foodstuffs to ensure an adequate and balanced diet; and above all the contribution to tuition fees and payment of monthly rent.

At the “Notre Dame de Miséricorde” orphanage, located in the district of Yaoundé 7, with a capacity to accommodate 37 children, the promoter, Sister Julienne Anyouza Lodo, presents the inventory. “A benefactor had paid eight years’ rent for this house and the lease contract should be renewed this year. I had lost sleep. I was very close to having a stroke. The children had nothing left to eat,” she recalled. Steven Nbienou Kouadjo announced the purchase of 500 m² of land and the payment of one year’s rent, time to build a house on this land. She is happy that she will not buy food for more than a year. Until the departure of the SNK team, sister Julienne Anyouza Lodo cannot believe it and wonders if she is not dreaming.

At the “Sainte Thérèse d’Obili” orphanage, located in the district of Yaoundé 3, sister Marie Louise Messina Nsamba and her 45 children express their “immense joy” in song. She examines the bag of onions weighing almost 100 kilograms given by the benefactor, not without declaring: “I bought four for 500 CFA francs at the Mfoundi market. Steven’s gifts mean a lot to me. I’ve never seen that here.” For the “La Bonne Case de Zamengoé” orphanage, located in the district of Okola, Lékié department, the donor went beyond their expectations. With only 14 children, the director, Egho Hostencia Mirriam, intends to distribute part of the donations to the “La Bonne case” in Bangangté which has nearly 25 orphans. The orphan, Odette Ndongou, a 2nd year nursing student at the Catholic University of Central Africa, says she is “super happy. May God reward our donor a hundredfold,” she prays for Steven. Overall, officials and orphans from the beneficiary establishments say they are honored by these donations which perfectly meet the needs they expressed, not without expressing their gratitude.

By handing over these donations, the area manager of 1XBET-Africa, Steven Nbienou Kouadjo, expects two things from these children: “you have everything now. All you have to do is study and pray.” For him, these donations aim to establish a social balance between children who do not live in family homes and those who are with their parents. The aim is to guarantee all these children a bright future, the same chance of success and to participate in their own way in improving their living conditions. He further recalls that every six months, he goes into contact with vulnerable people. Its humanist approach aims to support them in their needs so that they can develop their full potential.
