Peruvian squash team achieved 11 medals at the XXIV South American Youth Championship Brasilia 2024

Peru closed its participation with 11 medals, achieved after several weeks of preparation by its young athletes with the support of their parents and the Peruvian squash federation.

It should be noted that Peru traveled with 33 athletes from Lima, Piura and Trujillo who participated in all open categories for the competition, being the second largest delegation after the host Brazil.

A milestone has been marked since so far it is the best participation in a youth South American competition with two gold medals and fourth place as a country in the medal table behind Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil.

Of the eleven medals achieved, more than half were in women’s singles, which demonstrates the good work in the women’s categories and especially in the provinces.

We must also highlight the participation for the first time of a student from our public squash academy in Villa El Salvador.

Luciana Castillo – Bronze medal – Female Under 19 Cat.
Mariana Doig – Bronze medal – Women’s Sub 11 Cat.
Thiago Cabrejos, Sebastián Torres, Carlos Torres and Amaro Castillo – Bronze medal – Men’s Teams.

Accompanying the delegation were the president of the federation, Mr. Alejandro Ballón E., as delegate, Ms. Macarena Camino, and the coaches Anderson Cardona, Álvaro Palacio and Federico Mecklenburg.
