Letter to the Governor Abate Edi’i Jean

Governor of the North Cameroon Region.

By Writer Calvin Djouari

Excellency Governor,

Very early this morning, I decided to write to you Mr. Governor, after watching the video published by your entourage following a meeting most certainly with your close collaborators. This video, which has been circulating for a long time, is sprinkled with good words. Words delivered by you and which teach about the true meaning of the State and public policies.

I took the time I needed, but really the time, to watch and analyze. It is not a public speech. It is a council as one does within a family. Whoever watches the video can feel the humanism in the thread of the text which lets the feeling of the discovery of meaning flow in a broad truth. What a beautiful and good message for Africans.

Every time this video is posted, it goes around the world. Many famous people relayed it. In France, for example, French friends told me this: “you have a good governor”.

It looks like an old film from our childhood that is given to today’s youth but we watch it without really knowing what to do, simply because we have undermined all the guidelines of doing, knowing, know-how and of assertion. I wonder if there isn’t a breakdown in our society somewhere!

Excellency Governor,

You have the deepest, most lucid gaze of all the political speeches I have heard to date. You like people; in the expansive ardor of the heart, one senses your concern for your neighbour. You thirst to do well, in this floating mass of humanity which often goes backwards, I remain convinced that whoever meets you will have a chance.

Cameroon is a great country, it has within it great men, whether in power or not. I often contradict most of them and disagree with their opinions. However, I infinitely respect their high intellectual value. Your video gives me the opportunity to pay tribute to each of them. It can fortify our intelligence for the days to come.

I confess that I am very touched by your words; talk to your loved ones like this, you were far from imagining that this video will reach the end of the world, words like these make life noble. Time passes quickly in our time especially when everything is beautiful around us, and life hangs by a thread, many people left very early. We are still holding on and thank God.

Excellency Governor,

The power that fate has given you to be in the midst of others as their servant is a gift from God. We have to say thank you to life. For my part, every day I give back to life what it has given me… I am very curious about everything around me and I learn a lot from my contact with others, when I have the time I watch videos like yours, whether they are of famous people or strangers, especially when if these videos can profess a certain number of values. Like you, I love people, whoever they are and wherever they come from, like you too, I had the chance to travel around the world, and meeting other cultures makes me humble man. Contacts that allow us to spend with strangers unforgettable moments by their originality. You are a man of quality. See the video

You remain a simple governor, an intellectual of very high quality. You are not in the binary, but in the nuance and otherness increased and renewed. Here is your life project with ideas that make the difference. There are words that deserve to be spoken, but it takes minds to scrutinize and divulge them. Otherwise, the stones will speak instead of the men, and it will be the end for all of us. The country must be proud to count you among its sons.

Excellency Governor,

As I told you above, I wanted to let time pass before telling you what I think about it because I was looking for words to write to you, but the words rarely came out of my head. who am familiar with these. Then I gave up the idea, but still sleeping, the idea of chasing you again came back. Your worthy words circulate in all the streets and on all social networks. It is the word to listen to. That day, you looked sad, but affable, sad because you understood that there are serious problems in our country. To talk about it the way you did, you have to know how and why we got here.

But as you are a jewel of our beautiful country Cameroon, there will be energy to redistribute. With your words, we understand that Cameroon will not disappear, because it has always had skills as well as humanists within it. I assure you that I like your speeches. You remind me of a prefect of Nkongsamba from Garoua who had distributed tons of bread to all the students in the city on May 20, 1979. I was in middle school. I believe that this prefect ended up as minister in charge of relations with the assemblies. A piece of bread with a little butter. You cannot imagine the flavor our children had that day. I take as witness Doctor Calvin Djombé, Ekamou Bruno, Essé Georges Francis, Dicka Ekwalla, Noukeu Sylvie, promoters who serve the republic somewhere in Cameroon.

Time has passed quickly, I have not forgotten. It was 44 years ago and I left for my studies. Bread. Maybe the words in your video will come true in the next 100 years. I will finally be able to say that I am happy for my country, that I am beginning to bet on the future. Bread, I know that you will not be able to achieve this alone with this galloping population and this widespread famine in northern Cameroon. I look forward to meeting personalities like you for a pot of excellence. See the video

As for your two dreams expressed publicly in the video, namely: “ of don’t be jealous… about places… and your own happiness is also linked to the happiness of others”, “we are concerned today about the material” “we have to anticipate… Each of us needs a little light…” I laughed a lot because it reminds me of the stories my grandmother used to tell me, especially the story of the farmer who took shelter under a tree and was lucky enough to see a rabbit. come crashing down on this one. A game received a gift that made him abandon the field for the tree with the hope that another would come down.

You also say: “When God places you somewhere, you must bring happiness around you. » I think I have to tell you that I have no doubts about this first aspect, because these are the words of a governor of whom all Cameroonians are proud. But for other purposes quoted above, which consist in seeing Cameroonians change in character, this is a challenge for which you must continue to fight in order to be able to have more flora, with enough rain which will give a lot of water you cannot drink on your own.

Excellency Governor,

Times are going to be very difficult. Flour prices are announced to rise provided bread remains stable; otherwise I will take to the streets to defend my piece. And you will see the consequences of a piece of bread. I believe you will do everything to meet the demands of the hour. May your words not fall into the void, may your words drive out the demons from heaven. In the rush of passing time, help us with such words. We should take care of our lands that our leaders have long abandoned with their wrinkled bellies. Mediocrity is commonplace, and in our country we praise the genius of dunces. I believe you are a new voice.

Happy Easter and thank you for being this great state clerk and this brave governor of the north. Know that we will need a lot of patience. Your methodical speech is a promise. I will take the time to say thank you. May the gods of our ancestors watch over you, because in this country, it is the best that we fight.

I wish you every success in your career, I know that one day many people will be happy with your stay in the north. Even if things aren’t enough, at least the lyrics show goodwill. There are those who are not even able to speak humanely to their constituents. You are a model for us; in my early youth when I began to like great personalities such were I dreamed of such actions. Even if I do not meet you one day, I will have had at least by this letter, the chance to share with you the same fervor.

I would also like to thank you for this great gift of speech, I know that you have projects for the youth of the north, may posterity venerate your gift of creativity…
