This mini colonoscopy device was first used by Dr Prash Patel, a doctor who works at a clinic in Sunningdale, Ascot, to detect colon cancer in patients with Stempt cancer last year.
Patel could easily check for Stempt’s symptoms, and Stempt only spent a day being examined and then referred to the hospital.
“In the past, the waiting list was long, given the number of patients with the same symptoms. It was difficult to tell which was mild and which was problematic. This new device allows me to easily distinguish between them, so I can reduce the number of people who need to undergo further tests,” explains Dr Patel as reported by Reuters
British medical institute The NHS is committed to significantly increasing the number of bowel cancers detected early. By 2028, the agency hopes to detect about 75 percent of cases of the disease at the easily curable stage.
