Chartres: a penultimate outing at home against Fleury 91

Two weeks before the start of the season (¹), Jean-Pierre Papin’s C’Chartres Football is playing its fifth preparatory match (²) this evening, receiving a resident of N2, Fleury-Mérogis.

Facing Fleury, have you chosen a particular line of work, or are you continuing your preparation?
We will use this friendly match to perfect our preparation, to put in place what works.

What works, so far?
Many things…

So what’s not working yet?
A lot of things (laughs). I don’t want to go into details. Many things I liked at Le Mans, others less so! Friendly matches serve to correct, to improve.
Two games away from the first day of the championship, your group is taking shape?
Yes, of course, we already have a lot of certainties. We have fifteen days of work left, we can still do a lot of things. What has been done is good. But, I will never be 100% satisfied. For me, there will always be something missing. I told the players.

In terms of numbers, should we expect new faces in your group? No, we can expect some readjustments so that we are the number needed for an entire season. We are still a little tight, we are watching for the moment.

Against Fleury, are you still going to field a team for half-time? I have the same group of eighteen players, without injuries, but two weeks from the start, I have to increase the playing time for some.

With an attack that turns to three goals per game! It’s anecdotal, even if it’s always better to score three than to take as many! It’s always a positive point, even in friendlies. We have to continue like this, we have a way of playing and behavior on the pitch, for the moment, which work very well. And I like it! It has nothing to do with last season. This is the novelty that we have at home this year, another way of playing.
