Britain’s largest increase in COVID since January

More Britons are being infected with the Delta strain

The growing number of new patients with coronavirus is associated with the emergence of the Delta strain, are confident in the United Kingdom.

The British authorities recorded 42.3 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection, which is the highest figure since January 15. Such data on Wednesday, July 14, made public on the government information website.

While the number of infected people in the country has been increasing daily by more than 30 thousand over the past eight days, the mortality rate has remained at about 50 deaths per day over the past 28 days. In the last 24 hours, 49 Britons have died.

According to the authorities, the growing number of new patients with coronavirus is associated with the emergence of the Delta strain, which accounts for almost 100% of infections.

Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, 5.2 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the kingdom, of which 4.3 million have recovered and 128.8 thousand have died.

In a country with a population of 68.2 million people, almost 46 million people (87.3%, or two-thirds of the country’s adult population) received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Almost 35 million Britons (66.4% of the kingdom’s adults) are fully vaccinated.

Formerly 122 British scientists opposed the abolition of quarantine in the country, calling the government’s plans “a dangerous and unethical experiment.”
