Brazil officially announces the squad of the 2022 World Cup: Firmino out

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Brazilian national team officially announced the squad for the 2022 World Cup. Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino not included in the list of players who have been brought to Qatar.

Firmino had to bury his dream of appearing in the 2022 World Cup after coach Tite announced his 26 top players.

The Independent said Firmino’s removal from the player list was a big loss. Furthermore, the 31-year-old striker is still a mainstay of Liverpool’s front row.

This is a difficult decision for Tite as Brazil is known for having a myriad of talented footballers spread all over the world.

One of the factors behind Tite’s decision was certainly his recent performance with the club. Not only that, it is said that Tite prefers attackers who are used to moving freely in pursuit of goals.

Firmino lost to Arsenal star duo Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, as well as Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison.

Despite being injured, Richarlison is expected to recover before the tournament starts on November 20.

Meanwhile, Selecao’s frontline will also be strengthened by Neymar (PSG) and Antony (Manchester United) and Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo. Barcelona winger Raphinha and Pedro (Flamengo) will also add color to the front section of the Brazilian national team.

In the rear, Tite still entrusts the place to Thiago Silva (Chelsea), Eder Militao (Real Madrid) and Marquinhos (PSG). Meanwhile, Gabriel Magalhaes, who shone at Arsenal, was not selected.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker remains the first choice in goal. While the midfield will be led by Casemiro who now defends Manchester United.
