JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President and Head of MX Business Samsung Electronics, TM Rohrevealing the reason the company focused on working on folding screen phones for seven years from 2012 until its release in 2019.
In an interview with journalists Kompas.com, Yudha Pratomo, TM Roh said that Samsung wants to give consumers a new experience. Because according to TM Roh, currently the experience of using the device smartphone almost no difference.
“Samsung looks at smartphones with shapes bar (the common form nowadays), we all know, so a bit bored and experience of device everything itself is similar,” said TM Roh to Kompas.com in Jakarta, Monday (4/7/2022).
According to TM Spirit, if speaking form factor in folding screen phones, it’s not limited to just a foldable screen. But it’s also about product innovation to improve user experience.

Samsung released its first folding screen phone in 2019. Efforts to bring this innovation to the public are not short-lived.
It took about seven years for Samsung to release its first foldable phone, since the concept began in 2012.
Samsung also briefly showcased the concept of this folding screen phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. However, at that time the phone was only a design.
The Galaxy Fold is Samsung’s first folding screen phone that was introduced on the Unpacked stage. The Galaxy Fold, which has a folding mechanism like a book, is predicted to be a luxury device with a price tag of around IDR 27 million.

Then in early 2020, Samsung launched a foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip. After that in mid-2020, Samsung released Galaxy Z Fold 2.
In August 2021, Samsung released two folding screen phones simultaneously, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
In 2022, it is confirmed that Samsung will release its fourth generation folding screen phone. However, it has not been revealed when the exact date of the phone will be introduced.
