TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Asus has officially launched the latest generation of Asus gaming smartphones ROG Phone 3 globally on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, on the Asus India YouTube channel starting at 8:15 PM IST (14:45 UTC) or 22:00 WIB. The smart phone became the first Android smartphone to be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus chip.
ROG Phone 3 also has a ‘ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition’, which uses a non-plus chip version of the Snapdragon 865 chip, this being an alternative choice for potential buyers. The chip is the first cellphone chip whose CPU reaches 3.09 GHz, plus overclocking to the GPU brings a 10 percent increase in non-plus performance.
The main version packs more RAM and storage space, which is 12 GB RAM as standard and there is also a more expensive 16 GB RAM. While the storage space starts from 128 GB and continues to 512 GB, the GSM Arena was quoted as saying, 22 July 2020.
For information, the Strix edition will come from 8 GB RAM and 128 GB and 256 GB storage options. All of which present fast LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
To ensure that the chipset can reach 144 fps, the ROG Phone 3 has a new 6.6-inch AMOLED screen and offers a refresh rate of 144Hz. Although from the settings the user can choose 120 Hz, 90 Hz and automatic, depending on which settings are most efficient for smartphone operation
Asus Android internal rework to achieve 25 ms touch latency (270 Hz touch sampling rate) which is claimed to be the lowest of all smartphones today. Asus also included the AeroActive Cooler 3, a hole in the back of the phone, which allowed the fan to cool the enlarged copper (6x larger than the ROG Phone II).
The phone is equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging. Asus says charging for 46 minutes can charge 4,510 mAh, achieving 70 percent charging.
Asus added a third camera on the back of the ROG, but it was only a 5 MP macro camera. The main sensor is upgraded to 64 MP IMX686, which supports 2x lossless zoom at 16 MP resolution, the second sensor is ultra-wide angle 13 MP (125 degrees).
The main camera can record 8K at 30 fps or 4K at 120 fps. There are HyperSteady Video modes and Wind Filters, which utilize four mobile microphones that are placed around them. While the front camera has a 24 MP sensor.
Smartphone The brand from the Bamboo Curtain country comes with Android 10 out of the box with ROG UI or ZenUI inspired by the game. In terms of price, the Asus ROG Phone 3 is priced at 1,000 Euros (equivalent to Rp. 16.9 million) for 12 GB / 512 GB RAM, for 16 GB / 512 GB RAM valued at 1,100 Euros (Rp. 18.6 million). While the non-plus 8GB / 256GB RAM chipset is labeled 800 Euros (Rp. 13.5 million).
