The German teenager disappeared on Saturday evening when she and her sister watched the sunset from the water. They got into trouble with that. Their father tried to help, but the girl disappeared into the waves.

Immediately, a search was launched with lifeboats from the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM), a helicopter from the coastguard, islanders and the police. Later, local shrimp fishermen also assisted in the search.
The girl was also searched for the rest of the week.
