Biathlete Loginov returned to Russia from Italy, where he became a defendant in a criminal case – Sports

ANTHOLZ / Italy /, February 24. / Corr. TASS Artem Kuznetsov. Russian biathlete Alexander Loginov returned to Russia from the World Cup in Italian Antholz. This was reported to TASS by the personal trainer of the athlete Alexander Kasperovich.

Loginov flew to Moscow late on Sunday. In Italy, the biathlete became a defendant in a criminal case due to the fact that Kasperovich is suspected of transporting and distributing doping. According to Kasperovich, the athlete from Moscow went home to Saratov. The coach himself will go home on Monday morning.

On Saturday, Italian police raided the hotel of the Russian team after a request from the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The appeal to law enforcement authorities was due to the fact that Kasperovich was at the World Cup not by his accreditation.

Loginov and his personal trainer were involved in doping violations six years ago, for this reason the use of someone else’s accreditation, according to the international federation, could be due to an attempt to violate anti-doping rules again.

The spread of doping in Italy is criminally punishable. Kasperovich and Loginov’s lawyer told TASS that the criminal case would not prevent them from leaving Italy.
