LVisits beyond the country’s borders will be possible again from Saturday, Interior Minister Pieter De Crem announced on Friday. These visits were no longer possible since March 20, when the borders were closed to non-essential movement.
As part of the exit strategy, it is authorized, since May 10, to visit a maximum of four people on the national territory. The Minister asked the Group of Experts in charge of the Exit Strategy (GEES) for an opinion on an application of the measure to cross-border visits. He also had several meetings with his colleagues from the five neighboring countries (Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Great Britain) on this issue. He also discussed it with his 26 European counterparts.

The ministerial decree which sets out the confinement rules will be adapted and published in the Belgian Official Gazette.
The Minister stressed the need to strictly comply with the measure in order to minimize the possible impact on public health.
“I would like to emphasize that for all other cross-border traffic (except family visits, free movement of goods and essential movements), our country joins the other European countries which want to revive full circulation in the European Union and the Schengen zone for the 15th June at the latest, “said the Minister of the Interior on his Facebook page on Friday evening.
