A total of 519 students between 0 and 3 years old from the seven nursery schools in the municipality have started the course today, which will end on July 30, 2020, with absolute normality.
The Councilor for Education and Nursery Schools, Belén López, visited the El Lugarico Nursery School in El Palmar this morning, on the occasion of the start of the new year, which on this occasion is marked by the monitoring of the Contingency Plan, designed by the City Council, through the Infant School Service and in collaboration with Occupational Risk Prevention and Health.
In La Ventana de la Región de Murcia, he explained that everything has been done according to the contingency plan that has been developed in collaboration with nursery schools. Thus, the students have entered the centers through the entrance of the courtyard in order to control the entry and exit flows, a procedure will be carried out every morning in a staggered manner with the help of staff to avoid crowds.
In the same way, a worker from the center has been in charge of taking the temperature of each of the users, a measurement that will be carried out before each day. In the event that a child presents more than 37.2º, he will be directed to the area reserved for possible cases.
The mayor has also visited the dining area that has begun to operate in shifts, as will continue to be done throughout the course, including for the center’s staff.
Naps have also been organized in groups, thus allowing the children to separate. For this, the hammocks have been turned in the opposite direction and their use will be personal, as well as the blankets and sheets.
The City Council has seven nursery schools: San Roque Infant School (El Palmar); Beniaján Infant School (Beniaján); La Ermita Nursery School (La Alberca); La Paz Infant School (Murcia); the El Lugarico Nursery School (El Palmar); the Infant School Our Lady of the Fuensanta (Santiago el Mayor); the Infant School Our Lady of the Angels (Sangonera la Verde).
Each school has a covid team, made up of the director of the center, the coordinators of each level and the pedagogical coordinator, who will be in charge of monitoring and accounting for any incident.

News in the calendar and expansion of the workforce
Among the novelties of this course, the extension of the calendar until July 30 stands out. In the words of Belén López, “with this we respond to the majority request of all families who need this service until the end of the month and thus contribute to the conciliation of fathers and mothers during the summer period.”
Likewise, the workforce has been expanded with the incorporation of eight new operators, one person per center, who will carry out the necessary support functions. Beniaján will receive two: one for the premises of C / Escuelas and the other for the classrooms located in EI Los Granaos.
Regarding the holiday break, the Christmas one will run from December 24, 2020 to January 6, 2021, both inclusive; and the Easter and Spring Festival will be from March 29 to April 9, 2021, both inclusive. On the other hand, November 27 will be a holiday, that is, a non-school day, on the occasion of the patron saint San José de Calasanz.
