Babiš for the first time about new measures. He did not rule out a general shutdown of the economy

The situation in the Czech Republic is not good, infections are increasing by the thousands and records are falling daily. The government is therefore introducing more stringent measures to slow down the coronavirus. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) on Nova TV did not rule out a general shutdown of the economy.

“Of course we certainly don’t want it, the shutdown in the spring cost us 200 billion. That’s the deficit of our budget, and we wouldn’t want that. That’s why the new measures don’t have such a major impact on the economy,” the prime minister said.

According to Babiš, however, everyone needs to comply with the established regulations that are supposed to slow down the coronavirus. “Not everyone accepts and respects it. If we keep it together, we will be able to manage the increase. We want to ask people to respect it. If we hear teachers in some schools urging students not to wear veils, it is wrong,” he continued.

The Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for YES) announced that the government is preparing a comprehensive test of all Czechs. Babiš said that the proposal was just being born. “So far we know that it should be voluntary, it would be paid for by the state. It needs to be discussed with suppliers, with general practitioners who should implement it. It is at the very beginning and the goal is, of course, to test quickly,” he said.

New, more drastic measures include a halt to culture and a significant reduction in sport for the next two weeks. They have to close fitness centers, gyms or swimming pools from Friday. Pubs and restaurants close as early as 8 p.m.

High schools and universities are moving to distance learning from Monday, with the exception of professional practices and medical faculties. Primary school pupils will be split in half and will take turns after a week. with the exception of professional practices and medical faculties.
