The noise protection tunnel in Hamburg-Stellingen should be fully accessible from Monday. Before that, there is a long full closure this weekend.
The lockdown began late Friday evening and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday morning. Until then, the Autobahn 7 between the Hamburg-Volkspark and Hamburg-Eidelstedt junctions will not be passable, as the Autobahn GmbH Nord announced.
Postponed due to the onset of winter
The opening of the 900-meter-long tunnel was officially celebrated on February 5th. But because of the onset of winter, the final theses had to be postponed. From Monday, both tunnels with three lanes each should be available to motorists. The opening of the Hamburg-Stellingen motorway access to the north is also planned.
The final traffic management with four lanes per tube is to come at a later date. First of all, automatic transfer systems would have to be installed in front of the tunnel entrances, additional noise barriers installed and whispered asphalt laid, said a spokeswoman.
Recommendation: avoid as far as possible
During the full closures, inner-city traffic will be routed via the existing diversions U33 / U35 and U44 / U46 to the Hamburg-Eidelstedt and Hamburg-Volkspark driveways. At the weekend, car drivers should avoid as far as possible, switch to public transport or avoid trips to the city center, recommends Autobahn GmbH Nord.
The following diversions are recommended:
Of the supraregional traffic is diverted via the A1, A21 and B205. The official inner-city diversion takes place from Eidelstedt via Holsteiner Chaussee and Kieler Strasse to Stellingen, with the journey towards the city center.
