Aubervilliers: a security guard placed in police custody after violently hitting his dog

Skull open to the bone, several supposed fractures, numerous hematomas and internal bleeding… Hospitalized in emergency in a state of shock, Pablo, a young three-year-old Rottweiler, was between life and death, this Wednesday morning when he arrived at a veterinary clinic in Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine). He was found by the police, lying in a pool of blood in the stairwell of a building located at 81, rue Henri-Barbusse in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis), after being beaten by his master.

Levallois, this Wednesday. The blows cut Pablo’s skull to the bone. Action Animal Protection

“There is no doubt about what happened, it is unequivocal”, asserts Anne-Claire Chauvancy, the president of Action Protection Animale, alerted by the police in the night. The dog was so weak that the veterinarians could not immediately carry out examinations to establish an accurate diagnosis. “He was placed warm and on a vitamin infusion to overcome the state of shock,” said the leader. Radiological examinations were thus able to be carried out at the end of the afternoon.

The dog was allegedly tied up and then beaten

Neighbors called the police after hearing the animal howl around 4 a.m. Officials found it by following the traces of hemoglobin on the walls. They immediately contacted the association specializing in the rescue of abused animals, which took care of him.

“It’s very common in Aubervilliers, it’s our daily life and it’s really terrible,” laments Anne-Claire Chauvancy. Neighbors told him that the dog’s owner would have tied him in the stairwell before inflicting blows with sticks, punches and kicks.

The police found a second dog in the master’s apartment. A German shepherd Malinois cross, by the name of Flowli, had been living on the balcony, in his excrement, it seems for several months. Over 12 years old, the beast seemed frightened. A stick, supposedly used to beat her, was found on the terrace.

The police immediately arrested and placed in custody the owner of the two dogs, a security guard. He carried out his missions of guarding and protecting sites, in particular construction sites, with a dog. According to the first hypotheses, he would have bought the Rottweiler to replace the Malinois, considered “too old”.

The animal protection association reports that he justified the beatings administered to Pablo by claiming that the latter would have bitten him. He would thus have wanted to “inflict a correction on him”. The man was injured in one hand. To the point that the Bobigny prosecutor’s office temporarily lifted his police custody while he sought treatment.

Action Protection Animale immediately filed a complaint for “act of cruelty towards a sensitive being”. “Most of our interventions concern security dogs, who live in a car trunk or on a balcony and who are beaten,” says Anne-Claire Chauvancy. We are simply asking that the profession of security officer be better controlled. »

The association will pay for the important and costly care that Pablo will receive in the coming days. She also took in the second dog.
