Germany’s Social Democrats are investigating reports of eight women suffering from some kind of “knockout” substance similar to Rohypnol at the party’s summer convention earlier this week.

Thus, the SPD believes that eight women suffered from certain “knockout drops”. It’s a German slang term which refers to several so-called “date rape” substances, including the relatively well-known brand Rohypnol.
“This is an outrageous turn of events, which on our part was immediately reported to the parliamentary police,” Mathias Martin, a senior SPD official, told Bundestag deputies and their staff.
The party was aware of eight possible cases.
“We recommend that other people who are potentially injured immediately report this to the police,” Martin added.
So, one case has already been proven by verification, and charged against an unknown assailant.
The senior representative of the Social Democrats in parliament, Katya Mast, also called on all the victims to report this to the authorities.
“We are all outraged and will do everything in our power to shed light on this incredible event,” Mast said.
Note that Rohypnol (also known as Flunitrazepam) is used to treat severe insomnia and help with anesthesia. Like other hypnotics, it is recommended only for short-term use or for occasional chronic insomniacs.
