As soon as he joins, Alex Rins immediately complains about Honda motorcycles!

Even if, however, he only underwent several test sessions with Honda Alex Rins immediately criticized the performance of the Honda RC213V motorcycle. According to Alex, the riding was less reactive and different than the bike he had when he was still at Suzuki.

Disowned by Motorsport, the Honda RC213V is the only bike that has never led its riders to victory last season. Now, having tried it firsthand, Alex Rins knows what the root cause is.

“You are in luck, this is the first time I will speak openly about Honda, this means a new chapter in my life and I feel happy,” said Alex Rins, quoted on Friday (01/06/2023).

“Actually, it’s a strange feeling. It’s really complicated because it’s a very different bike from the Suzuki. But I have to say it (actually) doesn’t feel like a bad bike,” he added.

According to Alex, the engine of the bike he was riding was less responsive. At first he tried to fit the character, but in the end it didn’t work out.

“What cost me the most was the engine response, the throttle connection to the power, to the rear wheel, it was pretty good because it had no bass and it had a lot of treble. We adapted this and I didn’t finish well,” he said.

Alex Rins realized that Honda motorcycles have a special character that not every rider can conquer. He admitted he was sure his mount had good potential. It’s just that, right now, there are still grievances that need to be resolved.

“For me this is not an easy bike to ride, because all bikes are difficult, it just has great potential,” he said.

Even though his first impression of the bike was not good, Alex felt grateful because his crew in the team was the best. With LCR Honda he will be joined by talented young technicians such as David Garcia.

“The impression in the box was very good. It’s true that when you work with the same people for six years, you have quirks and you want to do things your way,” she explained.

“But the reality is that I feel very comfortable. We are working very well with David Garcia as with Beefy (Christophe Bourguignon, technical director). In the end, with everyone in the garage, the harmony is very good and I think we can do very good, cool stuff,” Alex added.
