But William Gallas does the trick after a controversial and colorful career in which he left an indisputable mark on the capital.
After five seasons at Chelsea, he was accused of forcing an exit and was embroiled in one of the most controversial deals in recent memory when he headed in the opposite direction when Ashley Cole traded Highbury for Stamford Bridge.
Gallas has denied claims he threatened to score an own goal if selected and started a new chapter at Arsenal wearing the No 10 shirt made iconic by Dennis Bergkamp.
The reception he received from Arsenal fans was more than he expected and remains on his mind years later.
“I would say my best memory at Arsenal is actually my first game against Middlesbrough,” he recalls in a recent interview with FourFourTwo. “Because I came from Chelsea, the supporters boo you normally.
“But when I was on the pitch during the warm-up, they all applauded me. It was really cool – I didn’t expect that.
