Four matches from two different groups add up to the full standings match day first World Cup 2022. The top scorer list has also increased with the presence of a new type of goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the first match played on Thursday (24/11), Switzerland beat Cameroon 1-0 thanks to a goal by Breel Embolo.
Also, the Uruguay vs South Korea match ended without a winner. La Celeste and Taegeuk Warriors had to settle for a point in their first match at the 2022 World Cup.
Uruguay and South Korea’s rivals Portugal and Ghana played later. Portugal won 3-2 over Ghana. Ronaldo opened up Portugal’s victory. In addition, both teams produced four goals alternately.
Andre Ayew had equalized before Joao Felix and Rafael Leao put Portugal back in front. Towards the end of regular time, Osman Bukari reduced the score again and it lasted until the fight was disbanded.
Closing the series of matches on Thursday (11/24) was the Brazil-Serbia duel. Richarlison’s two goals ensured the Samba side won by three points. Richarlison’s second goal was special because it was beautifully crafted.
Thanks to these victories, Brazil and Portugal lead the respective group standings. Brazil lead on goal difference from Switzerland, while Portugal are two points ahead of South Korea and Uruguay.
