Approved, India Will Test Covid-19 Vaccine in Humans page all

KOMPAS.com – India is trying to develop its own Covid-19 vaccine to control the outbreaks that have plagued the country.

Covid-19 cases in India now occupy the number 4 highest in the world with around more than 500,000 cases to this day, Tuesday (6/30/2020).

Vaccines that are being developed by India now have received permission to be tested on humans.

Quoted from Reuters, Tuesday (6/30/2020) this vaccine was produced by Bharat Biotech, a company located in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, India.

This agreement makes this vaccine the first domestic product of India that gets the green light from local drug and food regulators.

The Indian drug watchdog has approved the company to conduct phase I and II clinical trials of a vaccine called Covaxin which was developed in collaboration with the Indian Health Research Council of the National Institute of Virology.

Bharat Biotech parties conveyed this information, Monday (6/29/2020).

Meanwhile, trials on humans are planned to be conducted in all countries in July 2020.

However, there is no further information on who or what criteria people will be sampled from this trial.

In addition to the vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech, several other vaccine products have also been tested on humans.

For example, a vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and produced by AstraZeneca began testing 3,000 people in Brazil.

There are also vaccine production by research units and Chinese military biotech company, CanSino Biologics in Beijing.

The vaccine is called safe so it was approved to be tested on the country’s army for one year.

As many as 300 people in the UK have also been registered as volunteers in the first phase who received a vaccine trial developed by a research team from Imperial College London.

For the second phase which is planned to be carried out in October, the number of volunteers involved will be even more, namely 6,000 people.

Finally, the Covid-19 vaccine that has been tested on humans is a vaccine developed from a collaboration between PT Kalbe Farma Tbk and a South Korean company, Genexine Inc.

Phase I clinical trials have been carried out in South Korea this June, while for Indonesia the new clinical trials will be carried out Phase II which is planned to be conducted next August.

Although many vaccines continue to be developed and also tested, to date there has not been a single vaccine officially approved by WHO to treat corona virus infection.

However, research and testing efforts continue until finally found the most suitable vaccine.
