Apple is increasingly dominating the wearable realm, smartwatches to be precise, after two series Apple Watch was asked to be the best-selling smartwatch during the first half of 2020.
According to data from Counterpoint, there are two Apple Watch series that are in the list of the five best-selling smartwatches during the first half of 2020. Namely Apple Watch Series 5 which is in 1st position and Apple Watch Series 3 in 2nd position.
During that period, Apple’s revenue from the Apple Watch dominated the total revenue generated by similar devices. That is more than half of total revenue held by Apple, an increase of 43.2% over the same period the previous year.
Number of shipments Apple Watch also increased 22% year on year, even when total shipments in this industry were relatively flat due to the Corona pandemic, as quoted by detikINET from Phone Arena, Friday (21/8/2020).
In the list of best-selling smartwatches during H1 2020, under the two Apple Watch series there are the Huawei Watch GT 2, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, and Imoo Z3 4G. However, there is something unique about the market share in terms of income for this domain.
Apple is still holding market share through Apple Watch with 51.4% achievement, and in second place was a combination of various other wearable companies. But in the 3rd position, interestingly, there is Garmin, which is popular with the Forerunner and Fenix wearable lines, which are devoted to sports activities.
Then under Garmin, respectively, there are Huawei, Samsung, Imoo, Amazfit, Fitbit, and Fossil. From this list, there are several names that seem to have had considerable growth.
Examples are Amazfit, which overtook the existing Fitbit, and also Imoo, which was quite popular in Indonesia but not very well known in Western countries.
