Apple becomes the manufacturer smartphone best-selling throughout 2023, shifting Samsung’s position which has dominated over the last few years.
This was recorded in the latest International Data Corporation (IDC) report.
According to IDC, throughout 2023 shipping volume smartphone Apple reached 234.6 million units. This figure grows 3.7% compared to 2022 (year on year/yoy).
Then in 2023 Samsung drops to second place by shipments smartphone 226.6 million units, down 13.6% (yoy).
“Apple is not only the only player in the top three that shows positive growth every year, but also occupies the number one position for the first time,” said IDC Worldwide Tracker Research Director Nabila Popal in a press release, Monday (15/1/2024 ).
Nabila said that Apple was able to become a manufacturer smartphone number one in the world in 2023 despite facing the challenges of tightening regulations and competition from Huawei in China, their biggest market.
“Apple’s continued success and resilience is largely due to the rising trend of premium devices, which now represent more than 20% of the market, driven by aggressive trade-in offers and interest-free financing,” Nabila said.
