The entire facade of a night shop on Pieter Calandlaan was destroyed with an as yet unknown explosive. No one was injured, but many local residents feel less and less safe in their neighborhood.

The bang could be heard in much of the city. ‘I saw the bed move,’ says one of the residents. He then looked out the window and saw the suspected culprit. “He walked around it, as if he had forgotten something, then he took off on the moped.”
It is not the first time that something like this has happened on the Pieter Calandlaan. There was one in September last year tobacco shop next to the convenience store and in May took place there an explosion took place at a sandwich shop.

The neighborhood is concerned. ‘I no longer feel safe, I used to, not now. Our children are afraid, ‘says a local resident. ‘There is so much going on here, it is terrible. It has really become a rotten neighborhood, ‘says someone else.
The police cordoned off the area last night for an investigation and the EOD has also been called in. Research must show what kind of explosive it was. No one has been arrested yet. The police ask witnesses to report.
