Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) throws up the threat of a cabinet reshuffle suddenly in the midst of a corona pandemic (Covid-19), because his ranks are still considered to be working “normally” in a crisis situation.
The statement was made by Jokowi in a plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace on Thursday (6/18/2020). The statement was uploaded through a video published by the Presidential Secretariat, Sunday (6/28/2020).
When delivering his speech, Jokowi opened in a high enough tone. The head of state looks angry because there are still ‘a handful’ of ministers who work mediocre in the current situation,
“I see, there are still many of us who are as usual. I am annoyed there. Is this not a feeling? The atmosphere is a crisis,” Jokowi said as quoted Monday (6/29/2020).
Jokowi admitted he was furious because his staffs were not prepared to deal with a crisis situation. The head of state even expressed his anger because the performance of his aides did not bring significant progress.
“Our actions, our decisions, our policies, the atmosphere must be an atmosphere of crisis. Do not mediocre policies consider this a normality. What is this?”
“It’s just about regulatory affairs, regulatory matters [harus] extraordinary. I have to say the way it is. “There is no significant progress, no,” he said.
Jokowi then made the threat of reshuffle to his aides who were still considered to be working just like that in a crisis situation.
“This extra ordinary step is really what we have to do. And I open up what is called a political move, or a government step I will open,” he said.
“It could be, dissolve the institution, it could be reshuffled. I have been thinking about everywhere. I don’t know whether Perppu is even more important, if necessary,” he said.
