Andrea “IlDelmo” Del Moro after a controversial tweet was kicked out by the MTG Arena Zone team.

IlDelmo is an Italian streamer who in recent months has had considerable personal success. He increased his popularity thanks to his skills as a player and deckbuilder which allowed him to create the famous Gruul Fires. The deck in question, before the ban Fires of Invention, had become one of the protagonists of the standard.
These results allowed him to join the team MTG Arena Zone, the well-known information site about MTG Arena that collaborates with big game personalities like Seth Manfield for example, for which he wrote articles and streammava.

But like a bolt of lightning today, through a tweet on his profile, the site staff announced that Delmo will no longer be part of the team with immediate effect.

Delmo Cacciato
THE REASON FOR THIS REMOVAL

The cause of this departure seems to have been a tweet from Andrea in which he explained his point of view regarding some attitudes used by a certain type of streamer, referring mainly to women. As often happens, this type of tweet has a huge media coverage and has reached a significant number of people, including Taalia Vess (streamer, player di MTG, caster per Channel Fireball) e Amazonian (nota pro player di Magic e streamer)

The tweet, written in English and which was probably misunderstood as Delmo himself said, was not meant to be a male chauvinist outlet. The goal of his message was to make it clear that many streamers, aware of their physical appearance, use certain games to increase their popularity. Lately this has also happened within the MTG community and Andrea just wanted to show his dissent about it.

Some terms used within the tweet, however, triggered the reaction of some girls who attacked Andrea accusing him of being an envious male chauvinist for the success achieved by women.

Now the tweet on Andrea’s profile has been deleted. The apology promptly arrived but it was not enough for IlDelmo who was still chased from MTG Arena Zone, sparking numerous other controversies regarding this decision.

WE NEED A CHANGE

In an environment like Esport, social networks are fundamental. Talking about Export and video games excluding social media from the media is pure madness, and this also implies adapting to what is the accepted behavior on them. Unfortunately Andrea has mistaken the ways of expressing himself on a topic that is a fact, many streams have categories unrelated to what is the content of the streaming itself because that particular category helps to increase the numbers of the live. Taking advantage of a good aspect to make success is not wrong or immoral, it is right that who can afford it can do it freely is clear, the problem arises when this becomes the central fulcrum of a streaming that you should have as a completely different fulcrum. Unfortunately on social networks today it is difficult to express some concepts “out of the choir” without being accused unjustly and this is not at all right, neither for freedom of thought nor for the social causes carried out on social media in a correct way.

It is hoped that IlDelmo can fix things and explain his point of view to MTG Arena Zone, who kicked him out without having even had a dialogue to understand the situation and possibly help one of their collaborators.
