An innocent virus and a complex disease: better understanding Anitta’s case – 12/10/2022

In general, when we analyze it logically, we conclude that a virus can cause a complaint and a bacterium can cause pneumonia🇧🇷 Up to this point, nothing new and little to question.

However, when a virus is associated with cancer or a complex disease such as multiple sclerosis, doesn’t it seem that there is something strange? Cancer is not a virusmultiple sclerosis is not a virus, but even so, a virus can be a trigger for the development of these diseases.

Blockage of an artery in the heart due to fat buildup can lead to aa heart attack🇧🇷 The fatty plaques that form inside the arteries are not only made up of cholesterol, calcium and blood clots. Many studies indicate the presence of bacteria inside these real fatty plugs, responsible for interrupting blood flow.

In those people who suffer from gastritis And stomach cancerthey often do a endoscopy for a more detailed evaluation and removal of fragments (biopsies) of the inner stomach tissue.

In conjunction with biopsies, research into the presence or absence of a bacterium, known as Helicobacter pylori, is commonly done. What is the clinical value of investigating the presence of this bacterium in the stomach? Helicobacter pylori has been considered carcinogenic and, as such, requires specific treatment with antibiotics to eliminate this risk factor.

In Brazil, the cervical cancer it is responsible for significant mortality rates in women. The big trigger for the onset of this type of cancer is the presence of an infection caused by a virus, known as human papillomavirus (HPV).

Faced with all these considerations, it is a little easier to understand what could happen to the singer Anitta.

There is the suspicion that Anitta may have multiple sclerosis, still in its initial stages, and this disease would be affecting the neurological part, especially movements and reflexes. What’s more intriguing about this scenario is a possible relationship between a viral infection with a virus called Epstein-Barr and the trigger of multiple sclerosis.

Anitta was diagnosed with mononucleosis, a viral infection caused by Epstein-Barr and also known as “kissing disease”.

As the name already says, one of the forms of transmission would be through saliva through kissing and also by sharing cups or cutlery. Mononucleosis causes fever, prostration, sore throat and inflamed ganglia (intestines) in the neck region.

A study conducted by Harvard University, involving more than 10 million people, showed a consistent relationship between multiple sclerosis and the presence of the Epstein-Barr virus.

The most accredited hypothesis is that the infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus can induce the defense cells to attack the organism itself, in particular the nervous system, compromising motor coordination. The possible influence of this virus on the development of multiple sclerosis is not small, there may be a 32-fold increase in this risk.

A viral or bacterial infection can be one of countless triggers for the development of complex diseases, such as cancer and multiple sclerosis, and therefore preventive measures would be more effective than therapeutic interventions.

In other words, the use of vaccines, precautions regarding hygiene habits, care of intimate physical contact between people and healthy eating habits could weaken this negative influence of viruses and bacteria.

The case of the singer Anitta is still widely investigated, but it could be a picture of the evils that an apparently benign viral infection can unleash in the nervous system: an apparently innocent virus, capable of confusing our organic defenses, in such a way that the same defense cells attack the nervous system, inducing the development of multiple sclerosis.
