An American mother, versed in theories of the end of the world, was found guilty Friday of the assassination of her two children and of complicity in the assassination of the ex-wife of her new husband by the justice of the State of Idaho.

Follower of theories of reincarnation, she was prosecuted alongside her new husband, Chad Daybell, author of esoteric books, for this triple assassination and for fraud, the couple having in particular continued to receive family allowances after the disappearance of their children.

A radical sect preparing for the apocalypse

Lori Vallow, who according to testimonies considered herself a savior of humanity, had pleaded not guilty. She faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, but avoided the death penalty, dismissed by the judge. Her husband Chad Daybell has yet to be tried and faces the death penalty. Much like Lori Vallow, he was a member of a radical Mormon sect that was preparing for the apocalypse.

This dark affair, which marked Idaho in the northwestern United States, began in 2019 with the disappearance of the two children, reported by the grandparents of one of them. The investigation quickly took a macabre turn when the police noted a series of deaths in the entourage of Lori Vallow and her new husband, Chad Daybell.

A Netflix documentary

In 2018, Lori Vallow’s third husband died, apparently of a heart attack. In 2019, her fourth husband was shot and killed by Lori’s brother, who claimed self-defense. The latter himself died shortly after, after being found unconscious at his home. Still in 2019, Chad Daybell’s ex-wife in turn died of so-called “natural” causes. Two weeks later, Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell left Idaho for Hawaii.

The bodies of the two children, who were last seen alive in September 2019, were found in June 2020, more than nine months after their disappearance, near the home of Chad Daybell in Rexburg, a small town in that state. rural. Their story inspired a Netflix documentary series, “Our Murderous Mother,” released last January.
