Don’t ask why it makes sense or what it’s good for – there is no official press release containing answers to these questions. AMD simply decided to prepare and release the Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black graphics card, which looks like a reference design. It is black-silver (left) and Midnight Black (right) differs in that it retains most of the elements in the black version, which have silver references.
The Radeon RX 6800 XT Midnight Black was not publicly announced in advance, there was no event for release, but the members of the so-called Red Team were notified a few hours before the start of sales. Only the AMD website was used for distribution, the novelty did not appear in the offer of any seller. The price is the same as for the reference design. The card, which is essentially a limited edition, was immediately sold out (which would also be as an unlimited edition), so collectors still have a chance at Ebay, where for 2-3 times higher price “thanks” scalpers can appear .
However, it is possible that other cards will appear on the bazaar market with a gap – some have certainly ended up in the hands of miners who do not care about the color of the fan and who will send them without sentiment as soon as mining loses profitability.
