Allegations of assault have been filed against the former police officer who shot an unarmed teenager in Texas.

PARIS, 12 October (Benin News) –

US justice filed an assault on a former police officer in the city of San Antonio, Texas, for shooting an unarmed 17-year-old boy who was eating in his vehicle.

The officer, who was fired days ago after the incident, was identified as James Brennand and turned himself in to authorities, police chief William McManus explained at a news conference.

His arrest comes just days after he opened fire on the teenager, who was in a McDonald’s parking lot and remains in critical condition due to the severity of his injuries.

Mr. McManus said two assault charges were brought against him because there were two people in the vehicle, the driver and his passenger. He also stressed that the shooting was “unjustified, both administratively and criminally”.

Police remain in contact with the prosecution as investigations continue before trial. “We are working on getting the appropriate order to the court, we are working on it right now,” she said.
