alipast. The green future belongs to aluminum

Aliplast, probably most of us associate with window and door systems. However, this is only part of the activity.

– Aliplast Extrusion is a daughter company Aliplast – the company was established in 2011. We extrude aluminum profiles from which windows, doors and facades are made. It should be emphasized that we produce not only for the construction industry, but also for many other industries. Our aluminum can be “found” literally everywhere: in telephones, refrigerators, cars.

Any specific brands?

– I don’t think there is a brand that does not have parts made of Polish aluminum. But not only. The hit of recent years is our participation in the solar industry, the automotive industry and in transport. I mean semi-trailers for which we prepare casings.

Poland aluminum stands?

– This industry began to develop in our country about 20 years ago. Aluminum production in Aliplast Extrusion started at around 10,000. tons per year. Now it’s close to 50,000. tone. This means that the production capacity of our Company has increased almost five times over the last 12 years. This is due to the fact that we have the most modern production lines. When it comes to profile extrusion presses, there are no younger presses than those in Poland. Our plant is also changing in this spirit. We also launched a new, fourth press. Our Polish advantage over other countries is also the fact that our lines are the least energy-intensive and much more efficient. Thanks to this, we can compete not only in terms of price, but also in terms of quality with Germany or Italy.

What about ecology?

– This is an excellent question, because ecology is inevitably associated with aluminum. It is a material that is fully recyclable. 100% of aluminum scrap can be melted down and reused. There is no waste left. It is also worth noting that aluminum profiles are used in the production of renewable energy. I mean solar panels and windmills. The transport of the material itself is also important. Thanks to the fact that aluminum is three times lighter than steel, the ecological costs of its transport are much lower. The weight will be used more and more. The automotive industry has a goal that each new model will be at least 10% lighter than the previous one every year. For this purpose, more and more steel is being replaced by aluminium, for example in engine housings.

We talked about transportation. Staying on topic: to which countries do you export your profiles?

– All over Europe, incl. France, Germany or the Czech Republic, but our profiles also go to Australia, Canada and the United States. Not directly, but we also sell in Cambodia.

Can you predict how aluminum will be used in 20 or 30 years?

The aluminum market is constantly changing. It is worth noting that in Poland aluminum consumption per capita is very high and remains at the level of 15 kg per person, while in highly developed countries such as Japan, the USA or Germany it is 40 kg per person. This will increase, because there is a trend in the world to use aluminum to an increasing extent. Therefore, the market is so predictable that, at least so far, no one has come up with another alloy that could replace aluminum. Perhaps its advantages and capabilities can be replaced with something in the future, but at the moment it is unimaginable. Our task as manufacturers is therefore that we must be prepared for the fact that our products will be used by other industries and we must be able to extrude all the shapes of profiles that will be used. Now no one can predict how far it will go.

What are Aliplast Extrusion’s investment plans for the coming years?

“Just a year ago, I could have presented a plan for the next 5 years. Now it has changed a bit, which does not mean that we are not thinking about investing. We would like to launch at least one 10-inch press within the next 3 years. This would allow us to enter other industries.
