The move of the automotive industry towards electromobility will also affect the market for motor homes, which they are likely to try to adapt to. Some manufacturers thus present motorhomes built on the platform of purely electric vehicles, but electrification can also affect classic caravans.
This is shown by the recently introduced concept of the electrified caravan Airstream eStream, which has so far been built by Thor Industries as a one-piece prototype. This may not be the very first electrified caravan, but Thor Industries has demonstrated how modern technology can be elegantly combined with a classic look.

With its simple and slightly rounded shapes with large windows and aluminum body, it resembles a classic Airstream caravan, but the basis of the eStream concept is the electrified Thor platform, which is equipped with a battery-powered propulsion system.
The caravan can move independently, which you will appreciate, for example, when maneuvering in the camp or in the parking lot. However, the electric drive of the caravan can also help the towing vehicle, whether electric or combustion, which should contribute to lower consumption and better range.

However, the batteries in the floor not only serve to power the electric drive, but also to power the interior of the caravan, which should be energy self-sufficient for up to several days. The state of charge of the batteries can be verified via a mobile application, which also allows remote control of the caravan. In addition, the charging station in the vicinity should be displayed in the application, but in addition, the roof is also equipped with solar panels.
The video released by Thor Industries then shows part of the interior, which should offer plenty of space and comfort anywhere on the road. However, the electrified caravan is still only in the concept phase and it is not certain whether it will go into production or what its final production form will be. However, it is almost certain that similar machines will definitely not be cheap.
