The federal presidential election in 2022 may be more exciting than expected: now, for the first time, last year’s in Upper Austria. State parliament drafted movement MFG nominated a candidate. Party chairman Michael Brunner is the top candidate. The lawyer wants to be a “lawyer for the people” and stand up against “health dictatorship, a rampant culture of prohibition” and “mass impoverishment”. As president, he would “sack the entire federal government.”
Brunner has been a self-employed lawyer and founding member of MFG for 30 years. He describes himself as a “fighter from the very beginning”, especially against the corona measures. With him as President, there would also be no discussion about Austria’s neutrality or NATO membership. The campaign budget? Narrow. While Alexander van der Bellen wants to secure his re-election with five million euros, the MFG campaign cost ceiling is 125,000 euros.
