Airlangga Claims RI’s Solution to Covid is Similar to India

Chairman of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN), Airlangga Hartarto claiming that the Indonesian government has similarities with India in tackling covid-19. One of them is by tightening through the Emergency PPKM.

“The solution implemented in India is the same as that of the government, namely Emergency PPKM, strict PPKM,” said Airlangga in a press conference, Friday (9/7).

Not only that, Airlangga, who is also the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, also explained that India also carried out massive vaccinations to suppress the Delta variant of corona. He believes that the combination of the two policies will reduce the transmission of the Delta variant as much as possible.

“And we encourage massive vaccination. We encourage vaccination so that the Delta variant can be suppressed,” said Airlangga

On that occasion, Airlangga targeted economic growth in Indonesia to grow by around 3.7 to 4.4 percent by the end of 2021. However, this target depends on how long the Delta variant can be handled properly.

“We hope that the delta variant can be handled,” he said.

In mid-April 2021, India recorded another spike in daily coronavirus infections. 300 thousand new corona cases were recorded in a day.

Since then, India has continued to record more than 200,000 COVID-19 infections every day. Thousands of Covid-19 patients also die every day.

Indian scientists at the time believed the government had ignored their warnings about the dangers of the Delta variant corona virus. Since April, however, India has implemented lockdown in some areas. Even the New Delhi region decided to extend lockdown until the end of May.
