Horror in Honduras where an Italian citizen Giorgio Scanu, an Italian citizen residing in the country, was killed in a village in the south of the country, by an angry mob that also set his house and car on fire, accusing him of killing a neighbor 74-year-old Juan de Dios Flores, in revenge for a theft, according to police reports. The incident occurred in the village of Santa Ana de Yusguare, about 80 km south of Tegucigalpa. The man arrived alive at the hospital where doctors were unable to save him due to his serious injuries.

The photos and videos published by local newspaper La Prensa show the assault on Scanu’s abode. Among the images – impressive and very crude – also some taken during the lynching. Scanu is seen curled up on the ground trying to parry the blows of the attackers. An angry crowd of about 600 people, many of them armed with sticks, machetes and stones entered the Italian’s house with the obvious intention of killing him, e the intervention of the local police could not prevent it, specifies a statement from the Honduran law enforcement agencies.
