A flight attendant with the TikTok account @flightbae.b shares various tips with his followers about the world of aviation. One thing that went viral was avoiding using toilet paper on flights.
Reporting from explorer, Friday (9/2/2024) not without reason, he gave these tips. He said, airplane toilet paper is one of the points of bacterial cross-contamination on flights. How come?
The answer is, during turbulence, urine usually falls inappropriately towards the toilet. Also, sometimes small children ‘play’ with their urine until it gets on the toilet paper which is right next to the toilet.
“When turbulence hits and small children aim and shoot everywhere (the urine is not directed into the toilet). And it usually ends up on the toilet paper,” he explained in TikTok
For this reason, it is a good idea for travelers to always bring their own supply of baby wipes when traveling.
But what if you forget or don’t have your own tissue?
Air hostess @flightbae.b suggests that to prevent contact with ‘urine splashes’ in airplane toilets, avoid toilet paper, which is usually placed low on the partition next to the toilet seat. Instead, use a tissue that is positioned higher. This makes sense because tissue paper is usually placed much higher, near the sink and mirror, and far from the toilet seat.
Or, travelers can also ask the cabin crew for new tissue.
Airplane toilets are very dirty
Some time ago, there was a lot of discussion on Reddit about how dirty airplane toilets are, even though they look clean when you enter. But in reality, airplane toilets are more disgusting than expected.
“The toilets were not disinfected. The toilets were basically cleaned quickly between flights. Toilets were cleaned more often during the pandemic but now…,” he said.
“Yes, that’s right. Most of us try to avoid going in there as much as possible,” he said again.
Another flight attendant chimed in on the question and answer. In fact, some people warn you to always wear shoes when entering the airplane toilet. This is because the urine of passengers who previously used the toilet could have been splashed on the floor.
