Agriculture: Incidents on Athens Avenue – Two buses and a car were burned – 2024-02-26 21:28:31

Incidents occurred late at night from Saturday to Sunday on Athens Avenue at the height of the Agricultural School.

In particular, around 1 am on Sunday and while a concert was taking place with the participation of more than 1,000 people inside the university, a group of 40 people came out of the university and set fire to bins and damaged nearby shops.

In fact, they burned two buses and a car.

The police immediately intervened with the participation of the DIAS team and the MAT where they rushed to the scene. First they blocked the traffic of cars and then the people were repelled with chemicals by the police inside the university.

Then these people came out again and the “war” continued with stones, molotov cocktails and sticks.

At 4.30 in the morning traffic was restored to cars. A small police force remains at the scene for security reasons.

The vice-president of the Union of Police Employees of Athens, Nikos Rigas, said that “it is an incident that we have seen before in the evenings in places where concerts or other events are held. Police forces were immediately mobilized to prevent further diversions. These are not students, they are people who interfere in the university premises.”
